Sales promotion is our company's major. I must make everyone happy in marketing, otherwise we won't be able to keep it long. How can I do this? My plan can be reduced to three basic elements. Canon is very strong in image equipment and technology, but not in computers. We must introduce computer skills, so employees should introduce new ideas and new products into the vanguard. By combining it with Canon products, we will have an excellent combination system to serve customers in a global perspective.
Third, give employees more vacations so that they can be enthusiastic about their work. After years of working in the company, I stopped rewarding them with watches and other gifts, but gave them extra holidays. And family holidays (which are rare in Japan), or go out to enjoy real holidays. My view is: everyone must learn to work well, make good money, and have fun.
Motivating salespeople must first be confident. My trick is to let them taste the sweetness of victory at the very beginning. I usually assign new salesmen to dealers and customers who are easy to deal with, so that they can taste them. Order At the same time, we are gradually getting used to winning. After that, salesmen will be courageous enough to receive any potential customers, and they will be able to work at 120%.
In Japan, sales competition is more intense than in the US, but giving commission to Japanese salesmen does not play a great role. Japanese salesmen demand remuneration At least 90% of the salary is fixed, while American salesmen prefer a 20% salary plus a 80- Commission.
