Amazon's staff at a cargo warehouse in Germany went on strike on Monday.

Verdi, a local labor union, said that the reason for choosing a strike on busy Christmas Eve is to put pressure on Amazon on the long-term differences between wages and working conditions.

Verdi issued a statement saying that they had organized 450 staff members of the Amazon warehouse in Bad Hersfeld to take part in the strike.

The reason for the strike is Amazon's Christmas season promotions, which greatly increased the number of orders and staff pressure.

Verdi said that if Amazon could not meet the demands of workers, they would remain under pressure on Amazon.

It says most of it is in Germany.

They have not left their jobs and are still working hard to meet the needs of consumers.

Amazon also said consumers' orders would not be affected by the strike activity, because the company could call on 28 other freight warehouses in 7 other European countries at any time.

Amazon has 9 warehouses and 10000 workers in Germany. Germany is second only to the United States.

There are more than 10000 Christmas and temporary workers there.

Verdi hopes that Amazon can raise the pay level of warehouse workers, at least in line with the labor contract negotiation standards of the German postal industry and retail industry employees.

To achieve this goal, Verdi has organized many strikes in Germany since the beginning of 2013.

The Union has now appealed to Amazon warehouse staff in Leipzig, Germany, to join the strike march on Monday afternoon.

But Amazon also rejected Verdi's request many times, saying that warehouse workers belong to the logistics workers, and they have already got the salary above the average wage level of the industry.

After the German warehouse workers launched a strike, Amazon shares fell 2.02% to 306.32 dollars on Monday.

TheStreet Ratings, the US rating agency, has downgraded Amazon's "sell" rating to D+.
