CBRC Measures Regulate Sales Management Of Financial Products

Recently, the Chinese Banking Regulatory Commission officially issued the commercial bank's financial products sales.

"The measures" came into effect on January 1, 2012, and the Measures stipulate three aspects for protecting the legitimate rights and interests of customers and effective handling of customer complaints.

First, commercial banks are required to make a risk disclosure book in the sales documents of financial products, which should include at least risk warning statements, product types, product risk ratings and customers suitable for purchase.

Two, it is required that commercial banks must produce a notice on the rights and interests of customers in the sales documents of financial products. The content should include at least the business process of financial products, the evaluation process of customer risk tolerance, the way of information disclosure, channels and frequency of commercial banks.

The three is to require commercial banks to conduct financial risk assessment on financial products according to regulations, assess risk tolerance of customers, and sell suitable products to suitable customers according to the principle of risk matching.
