The new technology named "Ruyi spinning" can be used to develop textile waste into high-grade textiles. It solves three difficult problems that have troubled the world textile industry for more than 100 years, such as length, fineness and raw material sources, and reduces the cost by more than 20%.

In January this year, the technology was awarded the first prize of national science and technology progress.

Represented by "Ruyi spinning", Shandong achieved more than 2300 important scientific and technological achievements every year during the "11th Five-Year" period. The leading scientific and technological achievements in the whole country emerged such as carbon fiber, wave tables, trillions of computers and the first genome association analysis of the world's first leprosy.

Especially in 2009, 12 years later, Shandong once again won the first prize of national technological invention.

In the past 5 years, Shandong has accumulated more than 34 thousand new technologies and new products, reaching 27 thousand of the international advanced level and filling the gap in China, and the production rate has reached 85%.

Among them, Shandong's self developed Hisense "Xinxin", perfluorinated ionic membrane, Zhong Tong hybrid electric bus, annual production capacity of 320 thousand tons MDI production technology, and the speed of 300 km EMU aluminum profile and other major projects have filled the gap in the high-tech industry of the province, of which 4 have won the first prize of national science and technology progress.

There are always large enterprises in Shandong's economic structure known for its "elephant economy".

Among the top 500 Chinese enterprises released in September this year, 56 Shandong enterprises, such as Haier group and Heavy Duty Truck Group, are listed on the list, ranking second in the country.

Behind the strength is the support of scientific research.

During the "11th Five-Year" period, Shandong invested 111 billion 630 million yuan in scientific research funds.

At present, the province has set up 85 state-level enterprise technology centers, the number one in the country, 630 in the provincial level, and 33 industrial and technological centers in the fields of new materials, new energy, electronic information and medicine.

Today, more than 60% of Shandong's large and medium-sized enterprises have established various forms of technology development institutions.

In 2009, the number of patent applications and authorisation in Shandong maintained a rapid growth. In 2009, the number of patent applications and authorized applications reached 66857 and 34513 respectively, ranking fourth and fifth in the whole country.
